Frequently Asked Questions

To accommodate our commitments to the Nationals at Suncoast in April, QClub will officially open in May.
By then, we will have upgraded our blackball tables to the international Rasson Ironman standard.

Apsra has kindly offered to manage the QClub. Please contact her directly with any questions you may have, using the QClub contact details at the bottom of the page.

To maintain momentum until the official launch, everyone on the QClub WhatsApp group is invited to participate in the advertised 10k tournaments for March and April at no charge.
* Membership fees will only take effect from May.
* FREE entry into the tournament - one per month
* FREE Lights during that specified tournament times, for all scheduled to play in the March and April tournaments.

Rules: Race to 5 Singles KO
Blackball rules apply for the March tournament.
Heyball rules apply for the April tournament.
We will alternate every month between Blackball and Heyball.

"BYE"s may be replaced, randomly, with players who enter late.
Matches will be scheduled as timeslots are confirmed with both players (on the whatsapp poll).
All are allowed 1 reschedule during this round until last 32 is completed, as plenty have actual BYES.
4 tables are available so only up to 8 matches can happen per night officially.

The Handicap system will be established during the March tournament and applied from the April tournament.
We will use these preliminary tournaments to evaluate the level of play and allocate handicaps.
This is also an opportunity for members to influence our assumptions and approach for QClub moving forward.

* Prize breakdown:
R5k - Winner
R3k - Runner-Up
R1k - Each Semi-Finalist
Prizes are guaranteed irrespective of the number of participants.

* Limited time allocations per match. Once the clock stops, the winner on the score card goes through to the next round.
If the score is tied, the last frame will be completed.
Players have only 1 hour to play the RACE TO 5 or score remains as is, if the time runs out on the hour. If there is a tie on scores, then, please complete your last frame and the winner of that decider goes through. The incoming match players must play on another available table and start on time to ensure the session times are adhered to strictly. Anyone or if both players are late, their clock stops at the end of their hour allocated/booked and they will lose those minutes delayed in starting their matches. A player who is on time, starts the match and claims a frame for every 5minutes delay on the part of their opponent.

* Run on a HANDICAP system, to give every member a realistic chance to win.

* No tournament entry fee. Normal table rates apply.

* Matches will be scheduled a month in advance, on 1 day per week, for 3 or 4 weeks, depending on the number of entries.

The player who requests a re-schedule will have to take a walk-over if the game cannot be rescheduled.

* The tournament Director is Referee of event, and all decisions taken are final.
No queries can be entertained after the shot or match is completed. Make sure to call the referee before the shot is played, where applicable.

The Handicap system aims to level the playing field.

Each new member must fill the Player Survey, detailing information about you, as a player.
Any key information omitted can lead to you being penalised within the tournament, if validated.
A player's handicap will change over time, based on the level of their game at the time at which the handicap is allocated.
Player handicaps will be reviewed on a regular basis, to be determined.
The grading system itself will be reviewed from time-to-time, to ensure that it is fair.
If you believe a player does not deserve their allocated handicap, please let us know. We need to hold the club to account, in fairness to the entire club.
Your feedback will offer further insight into your abilities, and influence the ranking system criteria to be established.
A "handicap committee", including some members, will enforce fairness.

The opponent is the one who is responsible to remove those last (1 or 2) balls before the Blackball is played.
If the player on the table forgot about their last 1 or 2 balls handicap and finds themselves snookered on the Blackball, they have to play as the table is... shem😉
If a 2-ball vs a 1-ball player, only 1 ball is removed, in favour of the 2-ball player.
If both players have a 2-ball handicap, then play as PAR players.

Membership is limited, and valid for 12 months.
